TPS SCREENING
TPS Screening provides a completely automated managed
service for companies that are, or wish to be, Telephone
Preference Service (TPS) compliant. The service
transparently intercepts all outgoing calls from your
managed lines and checks them against the TPS database
before allowing them through to their destination.
It's a cost-effective, elegant solution which saves
your company the time and effort of running manual or
web-based checks or subscribing to the TPS database.
It also moves the onus of TPS compliance from your company
to the telecoms carrier.
What is the national TPS?
The Telephone
Preference Service database already contains details
of over 1.6 million subscribers who object to sales
or marketing based telephone calls. Since mid-2004,
corporate and business subscribers have also been included
on the database, which is growing and is updated on
a monthly basis. Calling
an individual or business registered on TPS can result
in a fine of up to £5000 per call. It does
not matter if they are your customers - if you make
a telemarketing call to anyone registered with TPS you
are breaking the law.
A full TPS UK licence will cost an organisation a considerable
sum each year. This licence fee does not include the
cross checking service to turn the TPS data into useful
information, so your organisation would either have
the task of cross checking telephone numbers against
the list of registered numbers provided on the TPS database
or paying a third party to outsource that service.

How it works:
Entacall TPS is offered as a feature of our Carrier
Pre-Selection (CPS) service. We apply CPS services to
your requested lines and once activated, the line benefits
from competitive call rates as well as the automated
checking against TPS barred numbers.
Entacall TPS identifies TPS registered numbers automatically
as you make the call. If the called number is positively
matched against a TPS registered number, the calling
party will receive a brief 'call barred' announcement.
If you have permission to call a particular number,
as determined in accordance with the national TPS register,
you can use an override code to call that number.
What it costs:
There are no set-up costs! A monthly subscription charge
for each line, as well as a portion of each call cost
covers the Entacall TPS service fees.
